Florence Jung
Florence Jung configures scripted situations, uncertain events and spaces of ambiguity. Her practice is inspired by camouflage tactics that examine the social circumstances of an era oversaturated by images, facts and post-facts.
Jung79 is a depot. An office inside a depot. A delivery office. A van. A pick-up point. There are no actions, there are no characters, there is just the parcel. But no one knows what it contains, nor what it looks like.
To function, fulfilment capitalism requires a seamless organisation of agents, machines and logistics. This project is about these hardly visible spaces that cannot be shown at the risk of ruining the magic of the fulfilment illusion. This illusion is the basis of this new city-wide scenario, where the viewer can follow the processing of a parcel from its place of dispatch to its place of reception. Jung79 comprises a series of billboards and a van, which are situated at variable locations around London.
The pedestrian who finds themselves in front of a billboard is invited to enter the fiction that unfolds before their eyes, describing the environment without revealing the action, nor the protagonist. Travelling between the billboards, they realise that the protagonist could be a parcel that transits the locations at with the billboards are positioned. This scenario aims to foster an awareness that transcends objects and materiality and to activate states of coexistence that operate between the perceptible and the imperceptible.
