whg Housing

Connie Jennings,

Head of Wellbeing

whg Housing is a leading provider of affordable homes in the Midlands, managing over 24,000 homes across the region and a strategic partner to Homes England to build more new affordable homes to rent, part own and purchase. whg is a social housing landlord, and therefore offers more services than a traditional landlord. These services include a range of wellbeing services for tenants as well as employment training and support, development of digital skills and apprenticeships and direct employment opportunities.

whg is a partner with the local authority and NHS, and VCS sector through OneWalsall to the Walsall Together partnership, which is a programme that aims to decrease the health and income inequalities of the area and improve education, housing, health and employment opportunities.  whg is also a strategic partner to the Resilient Communities transformation programme, which links with the Integrated Care Partnership – which has commissioning and purchasing responsibilities for the area.

The impact whg brings to Nature’s Way is access to communities, stakeholders, residents, tenants who stand to gain and benefit most from the development of a nature based solution (which aligns well with whg’s strategy for social prescribing) and additionally the aims of project to explore methods of co-design align very much with the need to involve tenants more meaningfully in strategies, service design and key decisions – an outcome from the Grenfell Hackitt review.
