Jana is a curator specialising in contemporary design and is Associate Professor and Course Director of the MA Curating Contemporary Design programme at Kingston School of Art.

 

She spent over a decade at the V&A where she co-curated the exhibition ‘What is Luxury?’ and worked on shows such as ‘Cold War Modern Design 1945-1972’

 

Pursuing her interests in curatorial as well as design practice and theory via exhibition, pedagogy and publication, she is a critic at international schools such as the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam.  She has been external examiner at HEAD in Geneva and the Design Academy Eindhoven. Focusing on design practice, she is nominator and judge for various awards such as the Beazley Design of the Year Award.

 

For two years, she has been Director for Postgraduate Research for the School of Critical Studies and Creative Industries at Kingston University where she has also been supervising and examining PhDs for years as well as in collaboration with institutions such as the V&A, Birckbeck, University of London  and Royal College of Art. Her own current research interest is dedicated to formats of curating.
