I attended Designing Interactive Systems (DIS) conference 2018 earlier this year at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. DIS conference, organised by the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction, is a meeting place for designers and computer scientists. It’s an occasion to debate and shape the future of interactive systems design.
I had a short paper accepted at the conference describing a software tool I designed for historians exploring digitised texts (see the paper here). And with LDoc funding, I was able to attend and present my work.
It was both an engaging and enjoyable conference, with paper presentations and demos covering a wide range of topics: from personal health to performance; trust and responsibility to supporting designers; and novel technologies such as conversational agents and virtual reality. Few papers concerned the digital humanities or cultural heritage, so I was glad to be extending discussion there.
Thanks again to LDoc for enabling me to attend!
