Lucy Russell lives and draws in London, having graduated in BA (Hons) Fine Art Printmaking from Winchester School of Art and a Printmaking MA from the Royal College of Art.
Her practice explores the body, visual saturation, narcissism of small differences and the power of unconscious association framed by the consumption of fashion imagery and youth culture observed through, often, obsessive pencil drawings.
She has exhibited internationally and buyers include Charles Saatchi. Illustrated publications including ‘Fashion Cultures Revisited‘ (Routledge) and exhibition ‘Female Slenderness and the Case of Perverse Compliant Deception – or Why Size Matters…’ further a visual investigation of unrealistic body images promoted through fashion to a society obsessed with food. She is a regular contributor to art/fashion magazine Animæ.
