Project Outline:

A participatory introduction on performance art through four primary elements: repetition, stillness, inconsistency and clothing*. The goal of the workshop is to explore what performance art is perceived to be (with a focus on the participants’ opinion) and to analyse and expand its boundaries through practical and collaborative performative exercises.

Introduction to Performance Art following ‘Performance Art: From Futurism to the Present’ (2011) by RoseLee Goldberg (Audio/Video presentation)
Performance elements: Repetition – Introduction of the first exercise and historical examples
PM:
Tutorials on Repetition
Repetition: Performances (5/15 mins each participant)

Day 2 (Wednesday)
AM:
Feedbacks and discussion
Performance elements: Stillness -Introduction of the second exercise and historical examples
PM:
Tutorials on Stillness
Stillness: Performances (5/15 mins each participant)

Day 3 (Thursday)
AM:Feedbacks and discussion
Performance elements: Inconsistency – Introduction of the third exercise and historical examples

Tutorials on Inconsistency
Inconsistency: Performances (5/15 minutes each participant)

Day 4 (Friday)

Performance elements: Clothing -Introduction for the closing performance and historical examples

Presentation of a Performance that will incorporate at least two elements between the four presented.
Final discussion and feedbacks about the closing performance
