Emotional Methods

Project Leaders: Nicky Coutts, Stephen Perdekamp, Sarah Victoria

Number of participants: 16

Duration: 3 days

Description:

The Perdekamp Emotional Method of acting (PEM) does not draw on emotional experience as other actor training techniques do, but instead constructs an image of an emotion in the participant free from experiential burden. The founder of this technique Stephan Perdekamp, and Master Instructor Sarah Victoria, will work with us to experiment in practice with what the ability to pivot between presentations of emotional triggers such as rage, lust, happiness, disgust, fear and grief can afford in the visual artist or designer. The workshops will include a day of learning the technique, using it to produce new work and a final day of performance with the college as site.

Timetable:

Day 1: Introduction to the Perdekamp Emotional Method of acting (PEM). Learning how to represent the 6 basic emotional triggers.

Day 2: A series of experiments in making work using emotional triggers.

Day 3: A performance in the corridors of the college devised in collaboration with participating students.
